Sourav Ganguly, the Director of Cricket for Delhi Capitals, has emphasized the team’s cautious approach towards Rishabh Pant’s return, focusing on his recovery rather than rushing him back into action.

Pant has shown remarkable progress in recovering from injuries sustained in a car accident in December 2022 and is poised to make a comeback in the IPL. He has been actively sharing his recovery journey on social media. Ganguly, speaking to TOI, stated that Delhi Capitals expects Pant to receive clearance from the NCA by March 5, indicating a match-by-match evaluation upon his return. Ganguly highlighted Pant’s diligent efforts to regain fitness, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing his long-term career prospects.

As for wicketkeeping options, Ganguly mentioned Kumar Kushagra, Ricky Bhui, Shai Hope, and Tristan Stubbs as potential candidates during the IPL 2024 auction, considering Pant’s possible absence from wicketkeeping duties.

Ganguly expressed confidence in Pant’s ability to contribute to Delhi Capitals and the Indian team after a prolonged absence from competitive cricket, highlighting the significance of his return for both teams.
