Shubman Gill, the captain of the Gujarat Titans, has been fined RS 12 lakh for continuing to overplay the ball slowly against Chennai Super Kings in the seventh game of the current IPL (Indian Premier League) 2024 season.
“As it was his team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Gill was fined Rs 12 lakhs,” a statement from the IPL read.
On Tuesday, March 26, Shubman experienced his first loss as captain of the lucrative league when the Gujarat Titans fell to Chennai at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai by a score of 63 runs.
The GT captain admitted that his team was “outplayed” when it came to bowling and batting. Shubman said that GT was “playing catch up” after they lost the first few wickets.
