In the current ninth edition of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, India hopes to break its 17-year trophy drought. Under MS Dhoni’s captaincy, India won the first edition, which was held in South Africa in 2007, but they haven’t succeeded in winning the title since. The Men in Blue are fervently hoping to end the duck and win the title again under Rohit Sharma’s direction.

India’s T20 World Cup 2024 campaign will begin on Wednesday, June 5, with a match against Ireland. The Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York will host the Group A match.

India would hope to keep their perfect victory record against Ireland intact on Wednesday, having won all seven Twenty20 Internationals between the two teams thus far. India advanced to the 2022 T20 World Cup semifinals, but on November 10, 2022, in Adelaide, they lost badly to England in the final four match of the competition.
