After it was determined that the Delhi Capitals had maintained a slow over rate for the second consecutive IPL 2024 season, BCCI punished captain Rishabh Pant and the entire team. In Match 16 of the 17th IPL season, they committed their second over-rate offence, which is a violation of the IPL Code of Conduct, in Vizag against the Kolkata Knight Riders.
“Rishabh Pant, the Delhi Capitals captain, has been fined after his team maintained a slow over rate during their TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam on April 3,” according to an official release from the BCCI.
Pant received a fine of ₹24 lakh, while the other DC XI players, including Impact Player Abishek Porel, received fines of either ₹6 lakh or 25% of their match fees, whichever was lower.
