Delhi Capitals won the toss and elected to bowl first, shaking the Rajasthan Royals to their core in the first half of their innings. They rallied, though, led by Riyan Parag, and in 20 overs they scored a total of 185/5. Anrich Nortje bowled the final over, which saw Parag smash 25 runs and end unbeaten on 84 off 45 balls.
Then DC entered the field and quickly took the lead, but in the same over, Nandre Burger dismissed Mitchell Marsh and Ricky Bhui. In the fourth over, this brought DC captain Rishabh Pant into the middle. Nevertheless, DC’s pursuit started too slowly and ended too late. Following David Warner’s 49th wicket loss to Avesh Khan, Pant was removed by Chahal for 28 off 26 balls. Towards the end, Tristan Stubbs gave DC a glimmer of hope, but it was already too late. Stubbs continued his unbeaten streak at 44 off 23 while the Delhi Capitals were held to a mere 173/5 in 20 overs.
