Virat Kohli

BCCI fines Virat Kohli heavily for his outburst at the umpire and his admission of a Level 1 IPL Code of Conduct offense.

After his dubious dismissal during Sunday’s vital Indian Premier League 2024 match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and the reigning champion Kolkata Knight Riders, Virat Kohli showed his dissatisfaction. The RCB opener was given out to a delivery that appeared to be a waist-high full toss, to which the former captain of India responded angrily. In the exciting match, Harshit Rana of Knight Riders outwitted Kohli, who ultimately gave up a top edge to the spinner in the third over.

Even though Kohli chose a review, the third umpire’s decision ultimately went against the Royal Challengers of Bengal (RCB), as the current Orange Cap holder was removed for 18 off 7 balls. Enraged with the match referees after his contentious dismissal against KKR, Kohli spat out loud when RCB’s first wicket in their vain attempt to chase down a century-plus target created a major controversy. Kohli was fined 50% of his match money for breaking the code of conduct during Bengaluru and Kolkata’s Indian Premier League match, which took place the day after the thrilling final-ball encounter at Eden Garden.
