April 4, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India (ANI): Cricket is all about batting, according to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bowling all-rounder Sunil Narine, who made an 85-run knock against the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
For the Kolkata-based team, Narine opened with a 217.95 strike rate, smashing 85 runs off of just 39 balls. While on the crease, the Caribbean all-rounder hit seven fours and sixes.
Narine expressed his satisfaction with his bat play during the post-game presentation. The 35-year-old did, however, add that he enjoys bowling.
He added that the English batter relieves his partner of some of the pressure when asked about opening for KKR with Philip Salt.
Since batting is the main focus of cricket, it is satisfying to contribute with the bat, but I also enjoy bowling. (When batting down the order against the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders): We didn’t need the opener at that point because we had enough batters. It all comes down to what the team needs in the end. It’s enjoyable to bat with Salt because he relieves some of my pressure. We bowled well and were spot on on a good wicket like that, so tonight was a true team effort,” Narine remarked.
In summary of the game, DC gave in to pressure and lost by 106 runs as KKR’s target of 273 proved to be too much for them.
