India has advanced for the T20 World Cup 2024 semifinals after defeating Australia in their final Super Eight match on Monday, June 24 at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, Gros Islet, St Lucia. The Men in Blue have advanced to the fifth T20 World Cup semifinal and have been scheduled to face England again in 2022.

Australia’s chances of making the semi-finals are now hanging by a thread, with the outcome of the Afghanistan vs Bangladesh game determining their fate. The Australians needed to win the game to keep their realistic hopes of making the last four alive, but now the other two teams have a chance to knock them out of the tournament.

India is undefeated in the Super Eight, with six points from three matches, while Australia has two. Afghanistan also has two points, but they have one more game to play. Bangladesh is yet to make a mark in two matches, but they are also in the running to reach the semi-finals. Australia remains in second place, with a higher NRR than Afghanistan, which is third. Afghanistan and Bangladesh will compete in the final Super Eight game at the Arnos Vale Ground in Kingstown, Saint Vincent.
