Karthik removed his gloves and accepted the cheers from the audience following the devastating loss in the playoff game at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.

Karthik has repeatedly stated throughout the season that IPL 2024 might be his final IPL season as a player, although he has yet to formally announce his retirement from the IPL.

Before the players left the pitch, Dinesh Karthik received an emotional guard of respect from his RCB teammates. The RCB stars had a heartbreaking evening as their incredible comeback run came to an abrupt end. Halfway through the season, RCB was languishing at the bottom of the table, having won only one of their eight games. But RCB managed to make it to the playoffs by winning six straight games, including a defeat of the five-time champion Super Kings.

With 22 fives and 4842 runs in 257 games, Dinesh Karthik will have finished his IPL career with a total of 4842 runs. Throughout the course of his IPL career, the wicket-keeper batter has played for six different teams. In 2008, he began playing with the Delhi Daredevils, and in 2011, he moved to Punjab. Before returning to Delhi in2014, he played for Mumbai for the next two seasons. He was signed by RCB in 2015, and after playing for the Gujarat Lions in 2016 and 2017, he spent four seasons leading KKR. When Karthik joined the RCB again in 2022, he was a master at playing the finisher.
