In a gesture of mutual respect, Shah Rukh Khan asks Jos Buttler to sit as the RR star hobbles to greet the KKR boss, and then…
Jos Buttler’s century against the Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2024 Indian Premier League is evident from a number of statistics. He had the most runs by any batter with his third in an IPL run chase. In an overall successful chase, it was his eighth T20 century and he tied for second place with Babar Azam. Buttler’s bat was responsible for 40 of the 46 runs that RR needed to win the match in the final three overs. Six of them were wide. In IPL history, it was the second-highest chase ever. He battled a leg injury while completing all of that.
However, one didn’t need the stats on Tuesday to applaud Buttler. The clearest indication of the effectiveness of Buttler’s knock was the respect and admiration he received at Eden Gardens, the home of the opposition
The RR camp had a proper celebration. As soon as Buttler scored the winning runs with the final ball, the KKR camp showed respect, and that was the true victory for Buttler. They hugged and attacked the England white-ball captain.
