Gautam Gambhir is expected to take over as head coach after Raul Dravid’s contract expires during the 2024 T20 World Cup.

According to reports, only Gambhir and WV Raman applied for the head coach role.

According to a recent Navbharat Times article, Gambhir met with the BCCI’s Cricket Administrative Committee (CAC) last week. During the discussion, he presented five requirements that must be met before he can take the position of India’s head coach.

Let’s look at the five requirements imposed by Gautam Gambhir, according to a Live Mint story cited to the Navbharat Times.

First and foremost, he wants complete control over Team India’s cricket operations.

Second, he wants to choose his own support staff, which now includes Vikram Rathour as batting coach, Paras Mhambrey as bowling coach, and T Dilip as fielding coach.

According to the article, Gambhir’s third condition is that he considers dismissing prominent Indian players such as Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma if they do not perform well in the next Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan.

His fourth criteria is to have a separate Test cricket team.

Finally, Gambhir intends to begin planning for the 2027 ODI World Cup immediately.

Gambhir was recently asked about his thoughts on becoming India’s head coach. He stated that it is difficult to provide a response at this time.
